Delicious, reasonably priced Japanese! Love this place.

My husband and I moved out here from Columbus just after Christmas. We found this little place when we were learning our way around and what is closest to us. We have been here so many times and the food has always been good and the prices are good too. Back in Columbus we enjoyed Fusion Japanese Steakhouse which is amazing but a lot pricier then Yamato. Our latest visit, my shrimp had a very bad aftertaste to it. I couldn’t even eat it. I can’t even describe it. My niece was with us this time and we ordered sushi in addition to our meals. Philadelphia roll & spicy tuna. The salmon was super chewy, the rice was old and the tuna had no spice at all. No flavor. To make matters worse, my husband and I have have been sick for two days. We couldn’t figure out what was causing this since we didn’t order the same thing........I can’t eat much rice, so a I usually give it to my husband. Lightbulb went off. Bad seafood is not just gross it’s dangerous. Sorry, not worth the risk 👎👎

Dusty. Christmas decorations left up and booths are falling apart. Our booth was held together with tape. Canceled our order and left.

They're very great staff. Great decorations. You can see the cook right in front of you and that is an amazing experience I believe. Every employee has a can do attitude and my cup was never empty. I would highly recommend the filet mignon and chicken combo with fried rice. I honestly could almost taste Japan if I knew what Japan tasted like

Sushi rolls are tiny, when not tiny cut very thin. Sushi taste ok.

Not much flavor was cooked well but the sauce had odd taste. Very expressive for what you get. Japanese Steakhouse Dublin Ohio best for the taste and experience and price....

Great Sushi presentation no matter the price of the food. This was my 3rd visit and the food is excellent.

Tea was cold, rice was old, fried bananas with artificial flavor...staff were on their phones. Do not recommend.

Eat here often. Prices are fair. Hands down the best quick sushi in Springfield. They cook the food to order. Can be a little pricey if you order dinner meals but always worth it. Only every had 1 bad experience out of dozens of visits.

Habachi chicken dinner for carryout was really good . We get carryout about every 4 weeks or so, never had a bad meal.

The food here is amazing! I don't even like mushrooms and their mushrooms were so good! The soup and salad before the main meal is delicious. I have never seen a salad so fresh in my life either! Amazing! Absolutely wonderful. I recommend this place.

Waited an hour and fifteen minutes. Never got our sushi let alone our main course. Only thing said to us was were busy. Our sushi was probably the sushi that was sitting on top the bar for 20 minutes. If you order here would probably do the call in. All those orders took priority over dining room. Don't go Friday night if you go.

The presentation and freshness of the sushi is excellent, the staff is polite and attentive, the prices are reasonable. One of my new favorites. Highly recommend.

We have lived here for 3 years and decided to try this place. Best sushi in Springfield! Great prices, service and atmosphere. Dinner options available too. Will return.

It was an amazing place, I really don't like mushrooms but when I came here I ate them all. The lettuce for the salad was so fresh and good. I recommend this 100%

I enjoy dining here when I am able. The sushi is very fresh & quite delicious. There are quite a few varieties to choose from, and you are limited only by your specific taste styles. The soup & salad served before a meal are also quite wonderful. I highly recommend this as a fine eating establishment.

Pretty terrible experience, I'm shocked at how many positive reviews there are for this place. Sushi was somehow bland and did not taste fresh, the gyoza were freezer burnt and tiny, portions were disappointing. Service was really bad. Server was not friendly, unattentive and rude. Will not be back.

Good food, good service

Yamato is my husband and i's favorite place to eat in Springfield. We both had the hibachi chicken, it comes with a spring roll, soup and salad. They bring out a bottle of yum yum sauce for your salad, and leave it on the table for the hibachi chicken. Which is amazing! There are lunch prices and dinner prices. The portions are sizable and the waitress kept our table cleared, which was great. They also serve sushi and some alcoholic drinks. Highly recommended!

Absolute RIP OFF! I order a special roll & spicy tuna roll, they are so small they look like tiny finger food. It's like they didn't have enough of the items to make my rolls & just rolled up what little they could & sent it out anyway. Both sushi rolls are the size of a quarter! (Photo of the roll next to a quarter below) If that's their standard, I wish I had known before hand & I wouldn't have wasted my money.

No, no, no!! Paid $12 for sushi. Was the smallest yuckiest sushi I've ever seen. Also the rice tasted old. Wish I could add a pic to show you.

Hidden gem. If you haven't been there you got to go. Add glazed carrots to your meal. Yummy yummy sauce is amazing.
